Process
The process is controlled by the use of the Patented AirLance™ Aeration/Collection Process which assures uniform high air flow for maintaining high biological activity, rapid volatile reduction, critical pathogen destruction, and reliable compost drying within the reactors. It eliminates anaerobic spots that produce odors. This produces a highly stabilized product ready for direct truck loading or bagging as it leaves the system.

In operation, pre-sized organic waste (yard waste/wood waste reduced to 1/2" or less) and biosolids are proportionally fed into a mixer, blended, and loaded into cells. The ability to use finer organic waste reduces consumption and simplifies processing. It eliminates several additional costly sorting and screening steps required with static piles.

The compost layers in the cell stack like a deck of cards with the bottom card removed daily and a new card (fresh mix) placed on top to maintain the deck height.

Gravity moves and mixes the compost in the cells as a void is made daily on the bottom of the cell by the transversing auger. Only a single auger is required for multiple compost cells set in a row. Finished compost is removed once a day with a single pass removing a layer off the bottom.

The efficient unloading/loading operation takes approximately a 1/2 hour per cell, with the auger parking at the end in an open accessible area for easy inspection and maintenance.
The AirLances™, shown below with blue and red arrows, uniformly inject and remove air three dimensionally throughout the compost pile. Assuring the biomass remains uniformly aerobic and at a high composting rate. The AirLances™ are also removing excess heat and moisture, as well as collecting odorous air deep within the compost pile before it escapes into the building.

The high efficiency of the AirLance™ Composting Process: greatly reduces land area required for composting; it reduces, collects and controls odors, and it efficiently moves compost through the process. The AirLance™ System remarkably saves energy and manpower normally required in composting.

The AirLance™Process eliminates nuisance issues often associated with composting. Also, other organic waste, yard waste and food waste, can be easily blended to allow a single operation to recycle this waste. Now let's see how the compost moves through the cell.
